General Chemistry TA Application

The following links will allow you to submit your application for interest in teaching General Chemistry Labs and Recitations. Note: you can submit the form more than one time, it will load with current information and update the new information. After submission, you will be solicited to submit your schedule on a separate website. Schedule changes will no longer be accepted after May 1st; any changes made that conflict with your scheduled labs or recitations will be the responsibility of the TA to resolve.

Our TA training begins Monday, August 13th. If you have conflicts with this, please include them in your application. Hiring decisions will be made by early July.

Undergraduate Students Student Instructional Assistants (SIA)	All undergraduate students should use this link. The Department of Chemistry is seeking qualified undergraduate students to serve as teaching assistants in the following General Chemistry lab courses: 1210, 1220 Title: Student Associate Salary is $12/hr, about 10 hours per week (usually includes a 3 hour lab). Appointment Details: New teaching assistants will teach 1 3-hour lab. Opportunities may arise for experienced TA's to teach recitations (1-hour/week). Promptly grade assignments and prepare for teaching responsibilities (approximately 5 hrs/week). One weekly office hour Proctor all exams for your assigned instructor(s) (approximately 10-13 hrs in total for the semester) Attend weekly staff meetings (1-2 hr/week) The exact days/times of your assignment will be provided before training begins and will be assigned in order to avoid conflicts with the schedule that you provide as part of your application. If you would like to submit any additional materials as part of your application (resume, letter of recommendation, etc.) please send them to the Lab Supervisor via email (chemlabsupervisor@osu.edu). Any further questions about this position can also be directed to the Lab Supervisor. The appointment is for autumn semester. Spring TAs will be decided based on need and satisfactory performance. Qualified students MUST have completed Chemisty 1920 / 1620 / 1220. GPA of typically > 3.6 (A/A- in chemistry courses) is preferred. ⓧ
