The Department of Chemistry is
seeking qualified undergraduate students to serve as teaching assistants in the following General Chemistry
lab courses: 1210, 1220
Title: Student Associate
Salary is $12/hr, about 10 hours per week
(usually includes a 3 hour lab).
Appointment Details:
- New teaching assistants will teach 1 3-hour lab. Opportunities may arise for experienced TA's to teach
recitations (1-hour/week).
- Promptly grade assignments and prepare for teaching responsibilities (approximately 5 hrs/week).
- One weekly office hour
- Proctor all exams for your assigned instructor(s) (approximately 10-13 hrs in total for the
semester)
- Attend weekly staff meetings (1-2 hr/week)
The exact days/times of your assignment will be provided before training begins and will be assigned in
order to avoid conflicts with the schedule that you provide as part of your application. If

The appointment is for autumn semester. Spring TAs will be decided based on need and satisfactory
performance.
Qualified students MUST have completed Chemisty 1920 / 1620 / 1220.
GPA of typically > 3.6 (A/A- in chemistry courses) is preferred.
